I'll DO It ...

A few days ago, I told Randal Graves I'd respond to this meme. "I'll DO it!!!!" , I said. So here goes:

1. Where was I ten years ago?
I don't know. I try not to think back that far. As I recall I was working for this HUGE hotel chain in their flagship hotel wondering how in the hell I could take a job that kept me out of my house for 15 hours a day. Noodle was 6, Zeb was 4, and Rick was 24 months.

How come babies lives are measured in months until
they turn two?

I hardly got to see my kids that year. Such is the life of desktop/server/network/anything-that-gets-plugged-into-a-wall technician. It's too bad this meme didn't get sent to me in 2009. Then, this answer would much shorter. I got the fuck out.

2. What was on my ToDo list today yesterday?
There really was no To Do list, per se. Just a react-to-the-moment, stream-of-consciousness, run-on-sentence list. I woke up in the morning in need of a run, so I ran 6 miles from my house to Southard Pond and back, then I tried to finish my "peep" post, but I had to drive Noodle to work, after which my pal Larry called to offer me 4 Field level box seats, which I took only to see the Mets fall to their knees and blow another September pennant race game that I surprisingly took in stride because professional athletes don't give two shits about me ......(breath in...breath out).... Then I came home, had Italian take out for dinner, covered the pool for the winter with Skippy, finished my peep post, walked the dog, watched Entourage, wrote this diatribe, and then... ZZZZZZZZZZZ....

3. What would I do if I were a billionaire?
I'd give it all away to the Wasilla Church of God.... Nah. Governor Palin beat me to it when she tried to build her bridge to nowhere. So, that leaves giving half to Skippy and the kids, buying an open-ended plane ticket to Hong Kong and become an international playboy. I'd spend it lavishly on women and booze and then.....

beep...beep...beep... beep

Skippy would shake me from my slumber and shout "Wake up Spartacus! You're having that stupid International Playboy dream again!"

Seriously, I'd pay off the debts of almost everyone I know, create an endowment that provides liberal arts and science scholarships at my alma mater, CUNY-Queens College to worthy students who otherwise could not afford them. Then, I would go on the two-year round-the-world trip with the family (or without), because I'd want to see all there is in the world before I die. Which leads me to....

4. Five places I've lived:
Depends on what amount of time is considered lived. Whether the time span is one-week or one year there are too many to mention, so here are my favorites in no particular order:

One Week+ List
Southfields (NY),
Chicago
Hong Kong,
Mexico City,
San Francisco

One Year+ List
Jacob Riis Houses (East Village, Manhattan, NY)
Richmond Hill (NY)
Mineola (NY)
Floral Park (NY)
Lindenhurst (NY)

5. Bad habits:
Oh jeez, do I hafta?

Okay....okay... I said I'll do it

  1. I blog
  2. I play pull my finger...alot
  3. I fall asleep with the TV on
  4. I smoke stuff... sometimes
  5. I... am stopping at four.
C'mon... I can't tell all my secrets. This is a family blog after all.

Okay...for this meme I tag

Stoking The Fires

I had one of my meltdowns this weekend. After I do, my tendency is to slink away from the blog for a while and get my shit together. That's kind of where I'm at now. I've got nothing for you guys. But rather than walk away without saying a word, I thought I light up your RSS feeds and let loose with some terrorist fist jabs.

I'm quite weary of all the Sarah Palin posts and the "stick-to-the-issues" bullshit that followed. Hey, she's a politician. Personal scrutiny is fair game. Just ask Bill Clinton.

By the same token, let's not forget that Barack Obama is no fucking saint either. Yes, I'm a Democrat and I will vote for him, but the man is not beyond reproach. After all, this is the same guy who voted for the re-vamped FISA bill which grants the giant telcos retroactive immunity for cooperating with Bush's warrantless surveillance program. He's also the same guy who wants to expand faith-based government programs.

No. I'm not up for any of that shit. I'd rather let Danny Wilson do my talking tonight...

Sorry...I've Been Busy

This is a note of apology to all my blog friends.

I'm sorry that I have not been able to return comments on this site and comment on your blogs. I've been busy painting my basement, which has been in need of a fresh coat and some aesthetic repairs for quite some time. Long story short, I was on my feet spackling, priming and painting my basement for the last three days....

Damn it! I'm tired.

I plan to throw up some posts on it later today. But in the meantime. I just wanted to make viral an idea I got from DCup to show love to all my blog friends. Here's my list of link loves. Won't you please take a moment and check them all out. They're all awesome.

So...I Took A Few Days Off

What of it?

It's been a long week. I've been away for a work-related training class and because of my return flight was nearly three hours late from "ground delays" at JFK International, I did not get back to the beautiful, bucolic Lindenhurst, NY until sometime after midnight. (I was expecting to be home by 9pm. Do the math.)

Anyway, long story short, I'm tired. But before the head that's thinking these lame-ass words hits the pillow for the night, I thought I'd drop a musical gift for my pal FranIAm on the occasion of her 50th birthday. (I think she's lying about her age though. She doesn't look a day over 35 to me.)

Dave "Mahoney" Mullen and Butta at the Triad, October 10, 2007, performing two numbers from is new CD, Mahoney's Way.
