A Poem Only A Mathematician Can Appreciate...

Mean

Would that I could
I would chose not to
Take the seat next to you
Now that I know
The depth of your meaning.

I would sit in another rail car
Or head to the far end of
The crowded bar where
I would, had I the means,
Tell everyone there about you.

I would spread the word
Far and wide and beyond,
Would that I had known
About how you mean little
Of everything you say.

Would that it were really news,
Even though everyone may not care
To know the simple truth of you,
I would say it anyway --
That you are simply mean.
