I don't like to publish any raw poetry here. Normally, I go through several revisions before I read or show a work to others. But this one just wouldn't wait.
Showers
the mist from a warm shower
hangs confined and swirling
in the curtains of my bath.
visible droplets of atomized water
loop in a mesmerizing dance
like lovers lost in satin sheets.
they are happy in this state
frolicking blissfully unaware
in an air so warm and calm.
but in contact with sobering, cool air
streaming down through an opened window,
they shriek and become teardrops
clinging together desperately as rain
falls hoping contact with tile and tub leads
to a gentle quiet death of little pain.
all the more reason
to return the next day
to dance and rain and die
shower head to drain
all the same
all the same
all the same
